This week a site visit and workshop was held in Minsk in view of the 2014 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship.

A site visit was held in a conference room of Hotel Europe. During the meeting the organizing committee of the 2013 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship told about its experience from the event in Stockholm and Helsinki.

Representatives from the International Ice Hockey Federation, its commercial partner Infront Sports & Media as well as the organizing committees for 2014 (Belarus), 2015 (Czech Republic) and 2016 (Russia) took part in this summit.

Tony Wiréhn, the General Secretary of last year’s organizer, shared his experience in the organization of an event of that size, told about positive and negative experiences and solutions.

After the meeting the representatives visited Minsk Arena where they inspected additional facilities designed for the upcoming World Championship.

Then the delegation joined the participants of an international sponsor workshop held at the arena’s press centre.

The participants of the workshop were greeted by Hannes Ederer (IIHF Deputy General Secretary), Christoph Mauer (Director, Infront Sports & Media AG) and Yevgeni Vorsin (Head of the 2014 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship Organizing Committee).

The participants of the event had the opportunity to see the presentation of the 2014 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship with full description of all preparation works and all information about the venues of the upcoming World Championship. The guests were also showed a presentation video about Minsk.

The reports about the process of preparation for the World Championship were given by representatives of DB Schenker (cargo delivery), representatives of the official travel partner CentreKurort and the official merchandising partner NEH.

The Czech organizer of the 2015 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship also had a presentation.

After that the participants of the workshop visited Chizhovka Arena, the second venue of the 2014 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship that will officially open in November.

Representatives of the long-time official main sponsor of the IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship, the carmaker ŠKODA, also took part in the event.

Organizing Committee hands certificates to its partners

Nine official partners of the 2014 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship have already signed cooperation agreements with the Organizing Committee.

This list includes the following companies: Belgosstrakh, BELAZ, Beltelecom, DKC (Russia), Belaruskali, Coca-Cola Beverages Belarus, Kayson, Kraft Foods, Veka Rus.

The Belarusian Organizing Committee has 12 packages available for partners of the 2014 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship. Applications for the two remaining packages have already been submitted to the committee by major Belarusian enterprises.

Personal certificates were handed over to the partners of the 2014 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship during the international sponsor and partner workshop, which was held in Minsk from 21 to 23 October.

The certificates were handed over by the Chairman of the Belarusian Ice Hockey Association and Director of the Organizing Committee of 2014 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship, Yevgeni Vorsin.

Vorsin thanked representatives of new partners for their substantial contribution to the organization of the upcoming hockey festival in Minsk.

“This substantial sponsorship contribution will help the Organizing Committee to hold the World Championship at a high level,” he said.

“We do our best to make it possible for all hockey fans to visit this sports event and our most important task in this regard was to offer lower ticket prices.”

The Belarusian Organizing Committee offers the lowest tickets prices compared to the recent four editions of the annual event. During the first three weeks, already 37,000 tickets have been sold.

The third stage of ticket sales will be the launch of packages that include all preliminary-round games of a particular team. These follow-your-team packages will go on sale on Monday, 28 October.

World Broadcaster Meeting held in Minsk

A World Broadcaster Meeting with broadcasters who will cover the 2014 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship took place in Belarus from 23 to 25 October 2013 with representatives of Organizing Committee, International Ice Hockey Federation and its commercial partner Infront Sports & Media.

Broadcasters from Switzerland, Canada, Finland, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Switzerland and Belarus got acquainted with the arenas, the broadcasters’ working places and discussed some technical issues.

They checked out camera positions, commentary positions, allocation of TV Studios and the locations of the flash zones and mixed zones.

Much attention was also paid to the allocation and equipment of production and office containers, electrical power, lighting, rigging and dismantling dates and other issues concerning television coverage.

Participants also held two meetings where they discussed issues of visa-free entry, cargo delivery, customs procedures, accommodation, holding of test games and the coverage of the opening and closing ceremonies.

At the final meeting of the workshop, the broadcasters decided to exchange videos about national teams before the start of the World Championship to acquaint fans with the participating teams.

Official Partners 2014 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship
