Skelleftea AIK defenceman Niclas Burstrom is on his way to Minsk and will join Tre Kronor ahead of tonight’s game versus France.

The mobile 23-year-old becomes the seventh defenceman on the Swedish roster, after Daniel Rahimi (bleeding in kidney) and Jonas Ahnelov (shoulder) has been forced out of the tournament by injuries.

If Burstrom does dress tonight, it will be his IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship debut. He has previously appeared in 18 national team games with Sweden, recording four assists.

For Skelleftea in the SHL, Burstrom has been a key defenceman in the club’s back-to-back championship titles. This past season, he had 6 goals and 14 assists, to go along with a +12 plus/minus-rating in 55 league games with the club.

Also, the team announced on its official twitter account that goaltender Linus Ullmark has been registered. He will be Anders Nilsson's backup in tonight's game.
