3D Painting Festival
Hockey artwork dedicated to 2014 Worlds
The participants had the chance to become the winner of one of the first tickets to the 2014 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship before the official launch of the ticket sales.
The festival takes place annually with the participation of artists from Belarus, Russia and Ukraine.
This time the festival of modern art and good mood was held on 7th September in Minsk’s Gorky Park to determine the best painter.
With the city gearing up for the 2014 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship, the upcoming event was present all over the place together with its mascot, the bison Volat.
The task for each team was to decorate Volat in traditional colours of one of the eight selected hockey countries: the top-7 of the 2013 IIHF World Ranking and the host country Belarus.
For ten hours with best weather conditions, the painters created hockey artwork dedicated to Belarus, Canada, Finland, Russia, Slovakia, Sweden, Switzerland and the United States.
The artists attracted many curious visitors who chose their favourites and made use of various attractions around the area including dance groups and bands who entertained the visitors on the stage.
Stas Rabunski and Kirill Kulikov from the team Duedro from Vitebsk were unanimously selected as the winners. They created the Slovakia painting with the stick-carrying mascot Volat driving to Minsk in his car reminiscent of one of the older Škoda models.
Sergei Gavrikov of the team Fresh won the second place for the USA painting and Vladimir Gastushak from Ukraine came in third place with the Canada theme.
